One of the most critically and commercially hip-hop groups, Wu-Tang Clan rose to fame with their uncompromising brand of hardcore hip-hop music, and their success enabled all members - RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard - to pursue solo careers.

The first Wu-Tang Clan single, the hard-hitting "Protect Ya Neck," appeared on their own independent label and became an underground hit. Their debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) was both critically acclaimed and commercially. "C.R.E.A.M.," released in early 1994, was the single that put them over the top and won them a devoted following.

The Wu-Tang Clan finally reconvened and returned with their second album, the double CD Wu-Tang Forever, in June of 1997. Hugely anticipated, the album entered the charts at No. 1 - selling more than 600,000 copies in its first week -- and quickly spawned the hit single "Triumph." 

In 2007, Wu Tang Clan saw the release of their fifth album 8 Diagrams, released three years after the death of Ol' Dirty Bastard, and six years after the group's previous LP Iron Flag, for which many group members further embarked on solo recording, and acting careers between the two albums.
