BJ Thomas achieved fame by straddling the line between pop/rock and country in the late '60s and '70s. At the beginning of his career, he tended to lean towards a more rock and roll sound, but turned to country music around the mid-70s. His journey is not without it's hiccups, as he moved from his very early band, The Triumphs, who never gained a large following and disbanded around 1966.
After The Triumphs, BJ released a few singles as a solo singer, which gained him a small but loyal following. His biggest hit 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head', was featured in the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. This single and the string of soft rock hits that followed all brought BJ great success that has continued on throughout his current career.
