The son of a coal miner, Tom Jones started his singing career by age 16 as a part-time pub singer. By 1963, his group had become a popular local attraction, and the following year fellow Welshman, Gordan Mills became his manager.
From there the "Tom Jones Phenomenon" exploded! From "It's Not Unusual" to "What's New Pussycat?" to his 90's comeback with Prince's "Kiss" and guest shots on television shows, including The Simpson's, Tom Jones still remains a top draw live, where female fans pelt him with room keys and panties.
Tom Jones became one of the most popular vocalists to emerge from the British Invasion. Since the mid 60's, Jones has sung nearly every form of popular music, pop, rock, show tunes, country, dance, and techno, he's done it all. On stage, Jones played up his sexual appeal. It didn't matter whether he was in an unbuttoned shirt or a tux.
